Podcast
First, there's this:
Why am I using YouTube for my podcast? Because it's free.
Second, what is this?
The Drive Daily Five (man, I do not care for that name but it's the first thing I thought of) is a daily (M-F), five-minute podcast about my game development objectives and musings for the day. What I plan to get done, what I'm thinking about, and what I hope for the future, all in five, short minutes.
Third, how am I doing this?
I don't have the time for a long podcast. Recording, editing, creating a thumbnail, uploading, all that would take time away from, you know, actually making games. And, while there are free podcast platforms, longer podcasts almost necessitate a paid tier.
What I do have the time (and money) for is a short podcast. I have a two-hour, round-trip commute for my job, a commute which affords plenty of time for recording. And I can use free tools (Ferrite and CapCut) to record, export, and upload in ten minutes. I can spend ten minutes a day.
Fourth, why am I doing this?
I like to talk my way through development issues, and this is a perfect way to do this. I also need a way to record my thoughts while I'm driving, before I get to work and forget all about them. I need human connection and voice (although I'm sensitive about mine) is an effective way to connect. I want to get out of my comfort zone when it comes to sharing my thoughts with people. I can do it through this podcast.
So, hey, it'd be cool if you subscribed on YouTube and listened. Now, it's time to get back to work.
